The Toronto Maple Leafs are hoping to end this season on a completely different note than in previous years. Toronto broke a number of single season records in their franchise history. Including points at 113, wins at 53 and 300 goals for the first time in over 32 years! If you ask anybody on their team, they have full belief that they will not let history get the best of them in the postseason.
This is a group that has made the playoffs every single year dating back to 2016. Since those seasons, they have yet to win a single series. This includes their horrible 3-1 series collapse against the Montreal Canadiens just last season. As we all know, the Canadiens went on to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. To make matters worse, this doesn’t even show how bad Toronto has been in the playoffs. This group hasn’t won a series in 18 years! Their last series win came over the Ottawa Senators in seven games back in 2004.
Do The Maple Leafs Have What It Takes?
Now, the Maple Leafs really don’t have much championship experience right now. As it stands, only two players on the roster have ever won the Stanley Cup at some point in their careers. Those guys being Jake Muzzin and Kyle Clifford, both with the Los Angeles Kings.

This team does seem a bit different though. The core of Austin Matthews, Mitchell Marner, Morgan Rielly and William Nylander always gives them a chance to compete. It has for the last few years now. They just need to break that mental block and close out a series for good. With this upcoming playoff series expected to have a packed arena, they should have some extra motivation to get the job done.
What do you think? Can Toronto win their first playoff series in 18 years this season?
