The Denver Broncos have a ton of lot of talent spread across their roster. However, they just can’t seem to put it all together. While most of the blame could easily be thrown onto the quarterback situation, the wide receivers need to help him out more. That is exactly what their General Manager thinks as well.
George Paton just came out and said, “They all need to play better, and they want to be great. They’re all really talented. We need to be better around them. We need to get the best out of them. You can’t point to one thing — you can’t point to the quarterback or the scheme. They have to be better, and they know that. But they’re hungry and they’re prideful.” Injuries have played a factor as well as inconsistent play.
Denver Broncos Receiving Core Right Now
First off, they have Jerry Jeudy. This is now going to be the third season of his rookie contract. Jeudy had a solid rookie season but then missed seven games in the most recent year. He totaled just 38 receptions for 467 yards and shockingly not a single touchdown.

Next is Tim Patrick, the overachiever. Patrick was an undrafted free agent addition to this squad and has been arguably the best wideout. He just wrapped up his second consecutive season with over 700 receiving yards. He also has scored 11 touchdowns in those two years!
Finally, we come to Courtland Sutton. Sutton suffered a torn ACL that saw him miss almost the entire 2020 campaign. He then came back to post 776 yards on 58 receptions including two touchdowns. Sutton was able to play in 17 games as well. It was a solid step forward, but not at all where he was back in 2019 when he made the Pro Bowl.
It should also be noted that these guys have been receiving passes from Jeff Driskel, Drew Lock, Teddy Bridgewater and Brett Rypien the last two years. Maybe a new quarterback will change things. Or these guys need to step up themselves like the GM says that they do.
