The New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara got arrested on Sunday night due to battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. The arrest was made in Las Vegas, coming shortly after Kamara participated in the NFL Pro Bowl game. According to the police report, the incident took place around 5:50 p.m. in Vegas the day before the Pro Bowl.
What Did Alvin Kamara Do?
The victim’s name is Darnell Greene. He was reportedly beaten up in a nightclub by Kamara and a few of his friends. According to Greene’s story, he had told officers that he was simply awaiting the elevator when it all started. Kamara placed his hand on Greene’s chest to stop him from getting on the elevator with them, and Greene shoved his hand away. After that, Greene said that he was pushed hard enough for him to stumble. That was when he said he got punched and kicked to the point he lost consciousness. He was only able to identify Kamara as an attacker.
Recently, there was reports that the surveillance video backs up Greene’s story for that night. It also shows that Greene was attacked by four men, one of whom being Kamara. Greene suffered an orbital fracture in his right eye and might require surgery to get it all cleaned up.
Kamara was last interviewed by the police right after the Pro Bowl ended. He told the officers that he threw a couple punches but didn’t remember if he attacked Greene while he was on the ground. He also said that he believed Greene was running away after doing something to another one of his friends. However, the video that surfaced apparently refutes that last part in the claim. Kamara is already out of jail, but it set to have a court hearing on March 8th.
The star running back will likely suffer a suspension from the NFL even if this entire case gets solved out quickly. Although, we are just going to have to wait and see.
