Brian Flores has been the hottest head coaching name on the market since his surprise firing from the Miami Dolphins. He has been setting up interviews with practically every team in the league without a head coach. However, a few of these interviews apparently didn’t go the way that he had anticipated.

Brian Flores Is Suing Who??

It was just made public that Brian Flores is officially suing the NFL and three different teams. His claims were that those three teams were undergoing racist hiring practices that the league hasn’t stepped in to fix. The New York Giants were the first team. With the Denver Broncos also in the lawsuit. The Miami Dolphins were the final team.

The lawsuit stems from his interview with the Giants in particular. In the lawsuit, it showed that the New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick congratulated him. Belichick initially thought that Flores landed the head coaching job for the Giants, however, he hadn’t even interviewed yet. Belichick’s message read, “Sorry, I fuc**d this up. I double checked and misread the text. I think they are naming Brian Daboll. I’m sorry about that.”

Three days after this text was sent, the Giants did in fact hire Daboll to become their next head coach. The Giants released a statement after the lawsuit was made public, saying that they are happy with the interview process they did. They also said, “The fact of the matter is, Brian Flores was in the conversation to be out head coach until the eleventh hour. Ultimately, we hired the individual we felt was most qualified to be our next head coach.”

As for the Denver Broncos, Flores claimed that both General Manager John Elway and President Joe Ellis showed up to his interview hungover. He also said that they arrived an hour late. The lawsuit stated that it was obvious they were drinking the previous night.

Whether these lawsuits gain any more traction or if they are settled someplace else, Flores is expecting not to be hired because of it. In the lawsuit, he explained that he understands the risks of presenting this lawsuit while still trying to find a head coaching job in the league. Yet he is okay with that as he tries to battle the league.
