Denver Nuggets Making Moves

The Denver Nuggets don’t seem to be satisfied with their currently constructed roster. A few days ago, it was announced that they were looking into signing the free agent center Demarcus Cousins. Despite injuries, he had a really productive few weeks with the Milwaukee Bucks before getting released. If signed, he could be a nice addition to the Nuggets bench mob and help when Nikola Jokic subs out of the contest.

The day before that, they made a surprising move to get rid of Bol Bol. Many believed that Bol Bol was one of the best prospects coming out of the draft and he even displayed taht potential when he was on the floor. Yet, for some reason he didn’t get minutes during regular season games. It has been a confusing couple of years but now he is off the roster completely.

What did the Denver Nuggets Get in Return?

He was traded to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Rodney McGruder and a second-round draft pick. Another surprise because it really seemed like he was worth more than that. McGruder is going to give the Nuggets some help off the bench as a veteran presence. He played in 17 games this season for the Pistons and averaged 2.5 points and 1.6 rebounds a contest. Definitely not stats that jump off the page at you.

The Denver Nuggets are clearly hoping to get a little bit better as the trade deadline rapidly approaches. While they aren’t the worst team by any stretch, it’s clear that they aren’t championship contenders at the moment. Especially if Jamal Murray can’t return to the court after his devastating knee injury last season. At the end of the day, Jokic can only carry the team so far.

We will see soon if the decision to get rid of Bol will wind up being a good idea or not. If you care to check out some more NBA news, click the link to find some more.
