Zion Williamson Will Continue Rehab Away from Team

Many are probably wondering what is happening in regard to Zion Williamson. He was expected to return to the floor a little bit into this current season, but a setback pushed it back. According to the organization, Zion will be continuing his rehab away from the team. He isn’t going to be completely on his own though, he will be in constant communication with the New Orleans Pelicans medical staff.

Zion fractured his right foot a few months ago, and earlier in December he received a biologic injection that was supposed to help heal his bone. The timetable was that he be reevaluated in four to six weeks from that point forward.

Williamson stated that this whole injury process has been incredibly difficult for him. He thanked the Pelicans organization and the fans who have given him support throughout this entire process.

New Orleans has certainly needed Zion Williamson back out onto the court. They are sitting at 13-25 on the year and are in the basement of the Western Conference. They started their year off 2-14 but have been respectable since. Somehow, the remain just two and a half games behind the number ten seed in the conference, meaning we may see them in the play-in tournament.

What’s Happened to Zion Williamson?

According to reports, Zion had injured his foot away from the team. He was doing practice drills with his stepfather when the injury occurred. It was instantly reported to the team, and they announced it on the first day of training camp. Williamson said that he was expecting to be on the court on October 20th, but clearly that timeline was derailed. He started to have foot soreness in November as well during five-on-five drills. That setback made them push the timeline further.

It has been a really messy injury road for Zion and the Pelicans in a very short amount of time. However, nobody can deny the impact he brings to the team every time he’s out there. In his second season, he played in 61 games and averaged a little over 27 points a contest.
